Amid all the jokes and titters about high priced call girls getting paid $1,000 to $5,000 per hour, sex and politicians, consenting adults, and “What’s the big deal about a guy getting laid?” – the Eliot Spitzer scenario might be the opportunity needed to kick-start a serious discussion about the issues of prostitution and sex trafficking.
Would the public’s reaction be different if Kristen’s pimp, the Emperors Club, was not collecting high fees for their merchandise? What if she was not a “part-time model or actress” with “all-American good looks?”
This is a conversation that needs to take place. Now is as good a time as any. The fact that it is Women’s History Month adds a nice touch of irony.
